From Inception till now
January 2024 – I had a look on a firewall solution to improve my home security posture. I have mostly worked with big brands, Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Check Point, Palo Alto, but when it comes to home networks, none of them are appealing as price for licences is very high.

After exploring various options, I decided to contiune exploring Opnsense as a good contendent for home and SOHO, firewall solution. I've used some plugings to add services I'm used to have on firewalls installed over the years to customers I've worked for. While I've tested IPS/IDS solutin but ading Snort ad configured Crowdse, ClamAV etc, I Discoverd something that it is worth the money spent for a licence, Zenarmor.

It has been a while now, since I've used and upgraded Opnsense using Zenarmour, Crowdsec, Unbound DNS, GeopIP lists, Wireguard VPN. A new addition to Opnsense that came lately is masive, Q-Feeds.
